Those skinny legs have some power...I was so sad thinking that a few weeks ago he was considering leaving soccer completely. Nate's last year has been a really rough one as far as sports are concerned! It broke my heart to see his confidence suffer and passion for a game that he adored turn into a fight.
Thankfully, the ability to make a change happened and hopefully his attitude will be brighter!! Maybe I'm just biased because I have to be, but he has some pretty awesome defensive skills and a foot tougher than most 12 year olds I've seen. Sometimes just making a change can be the answer to a prayer!

I get a kick out of teasing Nate! And he knows it! Sometimes I do it just to see his sad eyes. I think he makes a cute sad face!!! He is the tease at our house...so he totally deserves a little taste of his own medicine! I love him! He is a good sport to let me play with him!I can always use a fellow teaser to not take me seriously! Thankfully Nate was BORN with the gift of sarcasm! Which I am learning, is a Mortensen genetic trait, that can be hard to take. I am so grateful all of our children have a great sense of humor and know how to let their big brother play with them the way he means it...just as fun!
Allie is 6 and sassy as ever!
I love that about her! I am glad that she is independent and confident!
Some people say bossy,
I say "leadership abilities"
Such a Sweetie!
Such a Sweetie!
Hides from the camera, ignores my requests, but has the most thoughtful, generous heart in our home!
He'll sneak an act of service and love in for you when you least expect it!
It melts my heart to walk into a room and see him playing petshops with his little sis just because she asked, or showing Nate how to play a video game that his friends might want to play so he won't feel dumb.
We are definitely looking forward to better weather!! We are ready to be doing more outside things...like picnics, fishing, warmer lacrosse/soccer, swimming, parks, etc.... We're ready!!

Jake decided that fishing is pretty awesome!
Looks like Nate might have some
competition this summer!
Now, if we could get Pops to feel up to taking him out on the fishing boat...

Have you ever been to Taylorsville Days? We try to go every year because they always have awesome fireworks!! We have a great time!!! You should try it! Rednecks, live music, fireworks and glow sticks=good time!! If you haven't been, you should try it! I'm always surprised by the faces I recognize from both growing up and from Utah County...
Jake misses you.
But for now, he'll have to finish up lacrosse.
I'm wondering who's going to to tell him that
linebacker isn't an actual position
in lacrosse?
I guess for now, when he says stay down , you probably should.
